"My wife had a small fender bender in our only vehicle - 2000 Dodge GrandCaravan. With 4 children between 8 years and 2 years, we need the space. The initial analysis was 10 days to install a recycled rear quarter panel. Gerber offered a special: they paid for a compact car for the first 5, we covered the second 5 days. We decided to upgrade since we needed the space. After 10 days, Gerber decided the rear quarter panel would not meet their standards and wanted to install a new one. I called to talk to the manager and explained my situation: I am not able to put any more money towards a rental. The manager said they would cover the cost of the rental for the rest of the period. It turned out to be another 15-20 days due to the Christmas-New Year break. So according to our original agreement, I would pay the overage on the rental for ... the first 5 days plus the whole cost on the rental for the second 5 days. The cost should have been about $30 per day (for the first 5 days) and $56 per day (for the second 5 days). Some quick and inaccurate math puts that over $400. we were charged $121! I called Gerber to let them know that rental company billed them incorrectly. The manager said, "Don't worry about it. We will cover it." I think his name was Tyler. Now, I have lived enough life to know that no one gives away money. Well, for $121 and 1 month with our van, we had the van repaired and drove a 2012 or 2013 Dodge Caravan! Needless to say, we came out on top. Every time I informed Gerber of the mistakes, whether made by me or made by the rental company, Gerber took the short end of the deal! It is true that when I chose the recycled rear quarter panel, Gerber Collision said they could install it to match existing. They were not able and did everything within their power to make it right. I am extremely satisfied and impressed with the integrity of the manager (Tyler, I believe) who worked with me! I would recommend ordering the new part instead of the used part so that the time your vehicle is in the shop is minimized.
