Gerber Collision & Glass Donates Car Through Recycled Rides

April 23, 2012 - Gerber Collision & Glass, a member of the National Auto Body Council (NABC) has restored a vehicle as part of a nationwide vehicle donation program called Recycled Rides. Recycled Rides is a community awareness project whereby members of NABC repair and donate recycled vehicles to people in need. Gerber Collision & Glass is refurbishing a 2009 Chevy Cobalt, donated by Farmers Insurance.

This is Gerber Collision & Glass's eighth vehicle donation to families and community service organizations. "We plan to refurbish more cars for needy families and/or charitable organizations serving within the community not only in the Chicago area but around the country," said Jim Maliszewski, Director Program Management & Centralized Support for Gerber Collision & Glass.

Gerber partnered with SOS Children's Villages of Illinois, a charity which provides a viable alternative to traditional foster care. Children who come to live at SOS stay with their biological brothers and sisters in a private home. A full-time, professionally trained foster parent lives with them, and the whole Village gives them support, compassion and strength. Tim McCormick, CEO, and Michelle LaGroue Conradt, Director of Major Gifts and Corporate Giving accepted a ceremonial key to the Cobalt on behalf of SOS Children's Villages of Illinois from Gerber Collision & Glass Vice President Operations Kevin Burnett on March 29. Also present were Farmers Insurance representatives Mark Babic and Pete Hickey.

"Farmers Insurance has a proud history of giving-back to local communities and this vehicle donation is just the latest demonstration of our commitment to helping groups that do great work for children and local families," said Odom Wu, National Director of Auto Specialty Claims for Farmers Insurance.
